Has anybody tried to change the little speedo key plug thingy in the end of the drive shaft? I had a hard time keeping keys last year. It's not a bad bearing, the bearing was new last year, but the key hole is worn out, have to push the key in quite a way before it catches anything. I could just keep running w/o a speedo, since I use a GPS, but I would like to try changing it our since the part is only 6 or 7 bucks from my dealer.

changed several. i find it easier if the shaft is out, but with creative ingenuity and patience, in the sled is doable as well.

if the shaft is out of the sled, i simply drill the connector and thread in a screw attached to my slide hammer. it will pop right out and simply tap the new one in.

in the sled, the same principal applies, but your access is limited. access to a right angle drill is a bonus, but you can thread in a self tapping screw into the connector and sometimes it will push it out of the shaft. most often times a well secured screw responds well to a claw hammer pry or any other type of nail removal type tool although you havent much surface area to pry against. i have had the best luck with hammers that have more curl to the claw portion.
