Exhaust problem srx700

The stock exhaust is too quiet. Carbs are clean and it purrs like a kitten. It's just not loud enough. Any suggestions?

I got a aftermarket can I can sell u it will buzzzzz your mind lolll

I prefer the sound of the Bender can myself. 00 700 stock can, 99 700 has a bender and the 01 700 has the Hauck 3 into 3 stinger style growler. Don't get me wrong the Hauck sounds great for the first 20-30 miles!

Has anyone found a can that doesnt slow the sled down yet? I Would love to hear Tony chime in on this.

If your plan is to slow it down and ride it on public trails, do us Michigan riders a favor and leave it alone.

I have JAWS stingers
Not too loud
I was reassured may times by Greg that his stingers did not affect performance

I'll admitt upfront I do not know much about this sled. Why does an aftermarket can effect performance?

it lets out too much heat from the exhaust which is so over designed, it makes less power. All an aftermarket muffler does is make noise and save weight.

When I had a srx, I tried a few, as they came in on junk sleds. from all I tried, it was hard to beat the sound of a well packed, bender can. The haucks were wayyyyyyyy too loud to ride on the trail. A bender had a nice sound, cross between a bumble bee and an indy race car motor. Not the kind of sound that says, give me a ticket please.

If the aftermarket cans let the heat out too much, would wrapping the can and maybe even the pipes in heat wrap take care of this aspect of the problem?

I've got a bender can I'm taking off. You should buy it, I've read somewhere on this forum it only takes off 1hp if any at all. It's also decently loud, my wife said too loud so we put the stocker back on.

May lessen the effect but would not "take care" as you say. The heat is released out with the exhaust. With a 4 stroke motor (like a car/truck) with dual exhaust/headers make more HP due to the free flowing exhaust

Finishing my thought. Due to the design of the engine/pipes the pipes need the back pressure to hold the heat into the pipe. The free-er flowing louder can lowers temp of pipes which lowers HP. Personally I don't THINK in real world trail riding its going to be a huge difference. If your racing sled I am sure same sled/set up would be faster with stock can.
