Just wondering if anyone knows about these little black plugs, and if it matters what holes they are supposed to be in....I heard somewhere that I don't even really need them.

You definitely need them! It wont run right without them and they definitely need to be in the right spot. If you see brass in the hole plug it.

Ok, the pilot wasn't covered but the other 2 holes were???
I was told at one time by a Yamaha mechanic "if you see brass in the hole, plug it". That seems to vary from carb to carb. Some of them only have one plug (older Phazer and XLV) and some have two, Phazer II and apparently the enticer... But in the end you do need to put them back in and in the same location. Just dont lose them, damage them or throw them out. You cannot buy them anymore.

I tried putting them both in the pilot hole but they won't fit...
