You've been there for over a quarter of my life, for as long as I've been married, there when each of my kids were brought home, and so much more, see you on the flipside old friend

My dog is 13 so she doesn't have a lot of years left. Not looking forward to that day.

Sorry jeff! He was a good pup! At least you have good memories and you know he is not suffering anymore!

We have a golden retriever here and she has had one leg operated on a few years ago for what I believe would be the same as a acl tear in a human. We know when bad weather is on the way around her because she's really motionless and groans a lot.She actually takes a prescription pain med and I have a feeling that although the dog's only about 9 years old with the meds she's on I doubt there's many more years in her.I really dread the day when the inevitable happens because my GF will be inconsolable, she treats that dog practically like a kid.
Sorry to hear about yours staggs.

Sorry for your loss been there b4 it sucks got one thats getting up in age my self

Sorry to hear Jeff. Been through it myself. Alot of emotional times followed that sad day. Fortunately, time heals, and you remember with more clarity, the great times you shared with a great friend. Best wishes to you and your family.

And I'm dreading the next one now.

We got another pup after loosing the best Red lab known to man - Pete.

Blind retrieves, soft mouth, that dog could read my mind and twice found dead ducks I hadn't even shot. I could leave a ham sandwich on the floor, leave him alone for an hour and come back to see a puddle of drool on the floor in front of him and sandwich in tact. He wouldn't touch it unless I gave the go ahead. Cole was the same when it came to the sandwich but didn't have the hunting instincts that Pete had and forget about taking him fishing on the boat... he wanted to retrieve every casted lure.

I made the mistake of comparing the new lab Cole to Pete and expected too much... he didn't stand a chance. They say there is no such thing as a dumb dog, just dumb owners. That was me.

We lost Cole to cancer in June.

A pup helps heal the wound but just be careful and remember the new pup won't be the same.

Sorry for your loss Jeff. What was his/her name?

I lost my shop pal after 13 years and I know your hurt
