. Looks like I'm buying another sled. A deal I can't pass up. This will be my first triple and my newest sled. What can anyone tell me about these ? Ive heard good things about them. I'm used to riding 96 vmax's 600's and v4 800's. what can I expect? What should I look for. Fresh rebuild, may need a skid, paying 500$. How can I go wrong? Most importantly will it do a wheelie?;)

That's a smokin buy as as for comparison it will be closer to your 800 than the 600 by far with a lighter chassis and great handling. As far as areas of concern one would be the power valves as these tend to get neglected as far as adjustment and cleaning.Another is the W arm in the skid but you said you probably need a skid anyway but these tend to crack and break so if your looking to put another whole skid in be sure to check this.If your going to rebuild the new skid take the w arm to a welding shop and have it reinforced and have new collars and bushings ready to put in the pivot area.

So more info. It's got about 7 thousand miles. About 1200 on a new top end including re coated cylinders and power valves

Great deal,……… I'll give you $600. lol. They are great sleds, as long as you maintain them. Nope, no wheelies, think more like go-cart for the trails, with long enough legs to give the new big dog sleds fits across lakes. Not a ditch banging sled.

And one more problem area was the wire harness running under the motor, they rub thru eventually. Good luck with her.

Damn. Will it be pretty snappy at
least on the trails? Someday' I'll get a sled I can wheelie on dang it I can already whoop *** even on my 96 600 with zero suspension in the trails. I'm guessing the guys I ride with won't have a prayer now with a quicker lighter better handling sled.

This sled will wheelie if you put adjustable transfer rods in it, then it hard to control(steer) imho. On the other hand your riding buddies are NOT going to like you being in front of them especially if it is not studded, this thing will shoot rooster tails nicely going over snow banks and turns the guy behind you into a snow man in a hurry.... You may want to look at a taller lug track if it still has the stock .75 track. I had a '99 and don't remember if it had the .75 track or the taller .92. Oh, and YES it'll be snappy in the trails you probably will just blip the throttle going down the trails as it makes very decent power, and I don't know about you, BUT, I LOVE the sound of a triple. BRAAAPPP. Nice find.

We'll I love the sound of my v4 and am very excited to have a triple. Now I have a single cylinder, twin, soon to be triple., and v4. We'll I love my 600 twin. Have a blast with it in the trails so from what I've read and heard so far I should expect a night and day difference. Not to mention the fuel economy should pick up. I'm pretty tired of staring at the fuel gauges on my '96's worrying about where the next gas station will be

I'm already looking for Turks clutch setup in case I need to rebuild the clutches or anything. Also I want to find out how to check and make sure the drive bearing or whatever I've been hearing about is ok.

Hopefully the crank was updated... I LOVE the way the power hits on the SRX that is what inspired me to get one. AND, YES the fuel mileage is going to be a big plus! no more looking for fuel at 60-80 miles.... OH, and BE CAREFUL as the speed/power of the SRX will sneak up on you.

youll definitely like the sled compared to the current 600 you have, being its a srx600 not a 700 so its not as much hp as most are used to or comparing it to. It definitely can be improved quite a bit with clutching. Chassis and rest is all the same as a 700 so your all good there.
600 doesnt quite get as good of gas mpg as the 700 does due to its use of the bigger 47.5 pilot jets and the 100cc less engine displacement, so your on the go flipper a bit more. Still way better then the 600 twin.

I hope I am not raining on your parade, that was a heck of a deal and a nice sled. I woulda bought it for sure, they run pretty good with a little tweaking. ;)! Nice find!

if its got 7000 miles on it, the cranks good!

Definitely not raining on my parade, especially with your last sentence! Not expecting the best sled ever made, just looking for some info and some feel goods about my new purchase. Sled looks good and the price is right. Really, if I got a season out of it it paid for itself. Prolly pay more renting a sled for a weekend So far the worst part about this sled is that I have to get a new jacket. ;)

At 7k I would say chances are crank was re-done already. From what I have read like 95% of them were re-done by Yamaha back in the day. DEFINATELY a HOT ROD compared to your 600 twin.

another cool thing is you can always bolt on a 700 topend later when the power hungry bug bites, the entire exhaust system and carb rack and water rail, etc. are all the same. Youll just need the cylinders, pistons, heads and cdi box and some jets. Most of this stuff is firly reasonable in the classified section due to the amount of 700 srxs getting parted out.

Then, its a 700(wolf) hiding in a 600 decaled (sheeps) clothes....lol

Have Fun, I am willing to bet on a constant smile on your face for the first few times! ;)!
