Does anyone know about how much it will be to have all the shocks rebuilt and recharged on an 02 SX Viper? I will be sending (2) sets of 4.
Also if anyone can tell me the names of some companies that do this work that will be great.
Thanks,
Rob

I've researched this a lot too. Pioneer seems to have the best program. I believe it is $160 for the set of 4 plus you pay for shipping to and from his shop.
Many other places do it too - but not that cheap (maxximum performance charges around $350, B-line in MN charges around $280).
You might be able to find a dealer that can still order you the updated softer shock package for that sled - I just got a set in Sep, and I've seen a few other on here get them recently. $200 for the set of new shocks...

Thanks
Thank you.....
Do I have to remove the track to remove the shocks? Or can I remove them with the track still in place?

No, either go to the tech pages here on this site or go to Pioneer's website and they have instructions how. It's pretty simple, really. Soc

you can take the whole rear suspension out without even touching a bolt on the chaincase. All you do it loosen the track all the way, then take out the 6 bolts for the rears suspension and then is comes out. YOu have to wiggle it out for about a minute or so but it will come out. Then once you get those out, take of the shocks.

the sheet I got for the shock update on the '02 vipers suggests that you can pull the shocks without pulling the skid, yamaha paid 40minutes to R&R all 4 shocks.
obviosly I don't think we ever coulda done it that fast, but it is in theory possible to pull the shocks without pulling the skid

Thanks everyone for your help....
Looks like I should go ahead and take the whole suspension out and do a complete check on everything.
