Phazer or SRV clutch on an exciter?

So on my 90 exciter, the I broke the inside sheave trying to get the clutch off. It's off and I did what I needed to do but I was just wondering if I could buy an SRV or an old phazer clutch and replace the weights and spring in it. Would it work? or should I spend the same amount I would spend on a clutch to buy a new sheave for the primary?
 
if you want to go the other way, i would make you a smoking hot deal on a good exciter II clutch.

i dont recall the differences between the pz and the exciter but sheave angle comes to mind. if you had a phazer clutch at hand, the exciter weights and spring will go in it assuming its the ypz clutch.
 
cant say for sure with certainty, but what i know is most the differences lie with the sheave angles and belt widths. i have done several bastard setups, personally i wouldnt think twice about intermingling the two, but i may have more access to tuning parts and time under the hood. too bad your not closer!

hopefully someone with more direct experience will step up. seems logistic that if the same 108c comet clutch fit several different yamaha models that the secondaries werent an issue.
 
The biggest difference that I know of is that the srv/phazer clutch has a different offset because they have a boss that goes inside the oil pump gear case. You might be able to re-align the motor to compensate, but im not 100% sure there is enough wiggle room.
