Had a bearing go out and chew up the rear axle. Now the question is what to do? I am pretty sure the shocks need rebuilt all the bushings need replaced. Do I spend money on rebuilding or do I find a different skid and install it? What would be a good replacement? Any one have a good replacement?
Thanks

I rebuilt my entire skid on my viper because it just needed a paint job, bearings and bushings. I ended up adding some grease zirks and doing the BETHEVIPER coffee can shim trick to tighten up the skid. My Wifes skid was shot on her SRX so I ended up buying an M-10 from a 2002 Poo Edge X and fixing that up. Cost me $350 for the skid, $250 for the install kit, 50 for the rear shock to be rebuilt, $100 for blue idler wheels rather than the yellow, and $150 to powdercoat all the arms and springs on the M-10. So unless your getting a brand new skid be prepared to rebuild it.

You can spend the time and money to rebuild what you have or install a Mono skid. Should cost the same or less than rebuilding the entire skid.

I have a Viper skid I'm going to be selling. I got a Polaris IQ skid that I just started working on installing today. I didn't spend too much time on it, but I got the Viper skid out and its in really good shape. My Viper only has about 2300 miles on it and everything is good and straight. PM me if your interested, I haven't posted it yet in the classifieds, but I'll make someone from this site a good deal on it like the good deals I got earlier on what I needed for a stock exhaust from other members.

I have a monoskid minus 2 idler wheel mounts I'd part with for $400 shipped. It comes with all the idler wheels and the mounts are only $13 each from Yamaha if you go that route. As far as the swap goes it's relatively easy. You only have to relocate the front mount holes which I have a template for (I just used it on my 2002 Viper).

Well im one of the few guys that still have love for the ol proaction skid. I know it aint the best but it is what it is. If you fix it, set it up right and give it a little love it will work just fine for ya. The way i see it is no mater what you buy for another skid it also will have to be rebuilt, shocks rebuilt and then installed. If you dont know what your doing or have a good feel for it installing a new skid can be hard. So if you break it down it goes about like this. That bearing just spun out of the boggie so that boggie is still probably good just bang out outer race and replace with new couple bucks. If boggie is junk just hit the guys up here, $10 at most and while at it get 2 and do the 4th wheel kit. So i would the bang out the shaft cause those are just spacers you wrecked by the looks of the pics. So also hit the guys up for new spacers. Then take whole skid apart and give it the BTV tx http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?30541-Rear-Skid-Fix-Long. This will fix up that skid real nice. If you need new bushings (you will) rich sells them and he is a sponsor for $49 for everything http://www.richmotorsports.com/store/index.php . Well worth it as buying piece meal will be too much and why not just do them all while your at it. Then set up you skid per BTV http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?34503-setting-up-your-suspension. He knows his stuff. Also if you can swing it send all four shocks out to pioneer (also a site sponsor) http://pioneerperformance.net/store/page8.html for rebuild and revalve. $179 for all four and they do a awesome and quick job. Have done all my vipers with them. THis skid will ride like a magic carpet after that compared to the old one. Granted it might not be a mono or m10 but compared to your old it will be. So with new bogies and spacers your at let say $30, new bushings $50, coffee can free. SO for $80 your back riding in style. Add another $200 for shocks (adding shipping) and your really riding nice. So for under $300 your good to go. You will spend $300-400 and still have to put money into a skid. Just another option for ya.

The only reason I put the M-10 in the wifes sled was because she has an SRX and broke her back like 5 years ago so she needed a cushy suspension. I kept the Pro-action in my viper and did the BTV skid fix. I think alot of the people judge the Pro-action to harshly because it hasn't been dialed in properly.
