Does anybody have some real world experience with a hauck 760 red head motor. Found a good buy one one. Comes with tripple pipes. and bored carbs. Hauck claims 155-170 hp. Seams like a healthy package. Any information on these motors would be great.

like anything else it all depends on if it all works together or not, what pipes are on it??? as theres differnt variations of them along the years.
As far as the hp goes, a redhead big bored with aggressive cylinder porting, triple pipes, big carbs and the case ported can definitely make 165-168+hp if its built right.

mabey its not a hauck motor at all. Owner claims its a hauck 780. which is not really possible considering the red heds were 760s. Hard to say wether there was any porting done. Should i be able to tell looking at the exhaust/ intake ports if it has porting

ya, its not a 780 because the red head only has a 59.6mm stroke. If you take off the pipe you should be able to look in the cylinder and see if the triple exh ports and such are ported/opened up, they need to be about 3 times bigger then stock on a big bore if its ported good.
if he will let you, i would pull one of the reed cages out and look in the case, it should be ported and the bottoms of the cylinders matching the case, the rear of the cylinders should be notched.
The pipes are power inc end dumps, they were a good all around pipe, made good low-mid and decent peak hp, they ran right around 8600rpm.
You could ask a little bit of info about what rpm he ran it at and things of that nature to see if he knows about it or is just trying to sell a problem off to someone else.

hes a local sled guy. Pretty honest. He picked it up in a sled that he is parting out. If we go further with the deal i will be definatly looking for porting. Did they run an aftermarket piston in the 760s?

Thanks Don. This is very interesting. Mistery motor. If we go for a closer look i will post back results.
I know my Don ported Red head motor with cpr pipes and HC pulls harder than a 2000 srx strapped with ice pixx and 8bu0. Id like to hear how it goes if you get it.

Will do. Have a project in the works that would probaly not require the full potential of this motor.
