Im swapping in a 136" sc10 doo skid in my 97 vmax 700. I have cbperformance drop brackets that I would like to use. Does the axle and mounting points have to line up? I wanted to know if I could have the center mounting point dropped out of line to help get some weight off the skis (Ive raised front end quite a bit and the stock proaction leaves me with to much ski pressure.) Or will this cause an issue with track tension?

Hard to say with a skid swap. I think the biggest issue when dropping out the front of the skid, is trenching in deep snow. But if you are experiencing to much ski pressure, it may be your only choice if you want to leave your front end as is (that is, if you have already let out your limiter straps to compensate) Also spearing the track with the front of the rails can be an issue.
Do your homework when determining the mounting locations of the SC skid. Be sure the c to c of the mounting holes, is as it would be from the donor sled (not just measured from the skid sitting stagnet, not mounted).
Take a minute and read my Cat skid install(in my signature) and it may give you some ideas of what I looked for when determining mounting locations
Good luck

I have skid and donor sled for measurements. What i dont have is a track yet to check the angle but im not to worried about trenching. If it is to much i would make an anti stab kit. With long travel shocks and limiter straps all the way out it was still not quite enough. If anyone thats already done a doo skid would shes some light it would be great.

I can say that you wont have a problem adjusting for the higher front end of your sled. There is alot more adjustment to work with.

When you move the front brackets back just set them on the inside lip of the tunnel coolers. You are on your own for the drop brackets i would never use them myself. But i dont boondock mutch.

One thing you might want to consider since you are using a 136" skid, is mounting the skid back 3.75" - 4.0" and using a 144" track. That way you can drop the front mount down and still have a better approach angle. You'll want to mock up the skid and tunnel to ensure that you have the right balance. I did mine last year, and have too much ski pressure, so I'm going to drill lower holes in the front.

Im a short track guy. Only reason for going 136 is because i already got the skid. I guess il have to find out and see what im at. If it looks like its not gona work il ditch the drop brackets
