So after my brother hit the tree with his vmax last year, I get to do the fix-up. Have found used suspension pieces locally but was considering new shocks since it has over 7000 miles on the sled. Is there a decent, reasonably priced shock for this sled? Oem equivalent is fine, it's just groomed trail ridden.

I don't have any info for you on the shock, but I wanna know how fast your brother was goin to bend the arms like that, and was your bro okay???

He was fine. Slid off on an icy corner and put a 4" maple right between the spindle and the body. It did throw him off the sled.

Are those steel bodied shocks? If they are then get pair of rebuildable aluminum KYB shocks from a Viper or SXR. You should be able to get a set for $100-150. Have them rebuilt and valved for his weight and riding style. If you can find a pair of Ohlins from a Viper S, they would be real nice, but they sell for $450-500 a pair.

He's only here to ride one week each winter. Not gonna spend the money for rebuildables. Found a set from another member.
