I have a 2001 sx700r that I want to add a 4" riser block to. I know I need to extend my throttle cables, do I need to extend the brake line and parking brake cable as well? Also, should I consider a straight block or a pivoted block? Thanks in advance!

I would go with a pivoting block, 4" will push you pretty far back off the sled because of the 30 degree steering post angle. You are going to have to do throttle, oil and brake lines. Probably going to have to splice and lengthen the harness for all the bar hardware too. Parking brake cable is a lost cause, there is no extended one unless maybe a mm/viper would be long enough. I just ditched my parking brake and keep a Velcro quick wrap strap handy in my riser bag.

throttle cable and brake line are a must. however i managed to keep the stock oil line, and parking brake cable with some re routing (thought the airbox). I was also using a 5" pivot riser.

Are you saying the 4" solid block will push me too far back or the 4" pivoting riser will as well? Also, what exactly do you mean by splice and lengthen the harness for the bar hardware? How did you re-route the lines through the air box? Did you drill a hole in it?

To go that tall your stock harness will be too short, so you will have to cut and splice extra wire into everything on the handlebars to keep it working. With a pivoting riser you can move the clamp straight up, with just a block your going to get pushed back. The stock bars have both a lot of set back and sweep, they are really made for seated riding. You will find that tying to tip them forward does weird things to the grips and leaves you with a weird feeling in your wrists. If you want to be a full on ditch banger, consider re-doing your steering with a t-post adapter then double pivot risers and finally a set of bars with only a little rise and sweep. Look around, there have already been at least 4 threads this fall about longer cables/bar risers with some good information and pictures.

Thanks! That helps alot. Im looking at the powermadd pivot risers and the adapter kit. It says that the adapter kit adds 1.25 inches. If i got the 4" pivot block along with the adapter, that would be 5.25". Is that extra 1/4" too long for using stock oil and parking brake line?

parking break should be fine. my oil cable is right a max though. there's a bit of slack but im debating on lowering it an inch. for now im just going to keep an eye on it.
