I see some guys like 42.5 instead of sock 40 pilots on a stock 01 what would u change the fuel screw to 1 1/8 still?

I've got 42.5's in my 98 which I updated to '00 electronics and '01 jetting in the carbs.I have the fuel screws set at 1.5 but it really depends on a few factors as to where you set this, altitude, temperature and fuel quality but you can try it at the stock setting and adjust it from there. There was an article in the tech section on how to make your own adjusters for these because they are a royal pain to do or you might get lucky and find a set of the aftermarket fuel screw adjuster somewhere.

it works better to have richer pilot jets for aggressive clutching and so forth, a 2 stroke needs fuel to accelerate the engine. You can enrichen the bottomend some with the fuel screws but i dont like to adjust them further out then 2 turns. Otherwise the chance is for them to fall out as the spring doesnt have alot of tension on them after that, some guys run them out further, i just try to stay around 1.5-1.75 and just use the richer pilot jet.

40's in a srx is "ok" but youll need the screws out a fair amount if you have aggressive clutching, or youll have a bog on take off. I generally use 45 on ported sleds. 42.5 work well in alot of clutched-set up trail sleds.

The other good thing is none of my sleds have idle hang as the mixture is richer and they drop right back instantly.

so I go to a local dealer today to order 42.5 pilots and the guy said that those are not the ones I want so I explain to him why I want these and he says im going the wrong way, that I want smaller. its a no wonder why people want to do things themselves because its the only way things get done right. one thing I learned is yamahas like fuel why on earth would u take it away.
