Just bought it. I cannot say no to a clean Viper. Never a night outside, 100% original etc. Electric start and reverse. I really need to figure out if I should keep it or not ?

What would be the average value of the sled in today's market ? The sled is 100% flawless !

Thanks guys !

That's like a new generation barn find! Was it a demo sled that got tucked away or did you find it at a private sale? The only thing that might worry me would be rust in the bottom end if it wasn't fogged properly or if the crank seals dry rotted and started leaking in storage.

Ya i would be worried about how much rust is on the crank and the cylinders, I just rebuilt a friends 95 600 vmax with 500 miles on it that is mint he bought it and made it about 10 miles and WOOF, its good to go now after $600 in parts.
If it was me I would pull the cylinders off and take a peek.

The value is whatever the buyer is willing to pay, as if you look up blue book value there is no exception for mileage on a snowmobile.
If its perfect, you MIGHT find the right buyer around $3000-3500 private sale for someone who wants exactly that, a mint viper. As a normal used but well taken care of 2003 viper would bring around $2200-2500 private sale if theres snow on the ground. If theres no snow the value is lower.

Varies ALOT by area and how many other Vipers in area that are also for sale. I don't know for sure but seems like you could pull motor and remove just the bottom halve of cases for a good crank exam, Yama bond and crank case seals would be cheap....might as well put new water pump/seals in it too......At that point might as well put an opticool gasket on it.......SEEMS like a lot of work on that low miles sled don't it?

It seems excessive but I would say that is very prudent before hammering on it. Being of unknown status how it was put away, it could be fogged out or just parked because someone bought a sled, hated it, parked it and said f%#£ that thing until you found it. Just the crank seals having sat for 10 years with no oil on them to keep them soft would be reason enough to pull the motor, roll it over and pull the case apart. If you haven't run it yet, at the very least I would pull the reeds and look at the crank and rods for any sign of rust on the bottom end, pull the exhaust and look through the ports for rust on the rings/cylinders.

If you sell it as is, a disclaimer is huge because if someone pays top dollar and it blows up the next day, someone will be PISSED and headed back your way.

I was told it was run every year and fogged properly every fall. Older gentleman that got sick and simply could not ride it. It was fully serviced before I bought it, carbs cleaned etc. Runs perfect !. I will take a look at the crank etc and make sure it's good. Thanks guys !

I checked the prices and my prices are more for retail, (meaning refurbished sled that needs absolutely nothing-perfect shape)they were quite a bit lower for trade in. Usually the private sale is between trade in and retail.

Retail on a 2003 viper er is $2400, trade in was only $1600 but if theres snow on the ground they bring better money, so.......Good luck with the sale hope it snows for ya.

start at $3500 you never know, sometimes theres a butt for every seat....lol

Now that makes the whole deal sound a lot less sketchy. Having been dealer serviced and run/fogged every year even though it wasn't ridden would give me way more faith in the motor being sound
