Looking to long track my srx.
136?
144?
How much better is the 136 over the 121?

How muuch handling will I lose with the 136 or the 144? My sled handles like she is on rails now.
But we have too much snow here in central BC for a shorty!
Gearing, drivers, clutching etc... input also.

Cheers,
Rick.

I longtracked my srx to a 136 and was worried about handling as well back then. I used mtn performance rail extensions and went 136, added 8 inch rear wheels along with 5.350 skid wheels to it. It handled as good as it did when it was a 121. I also ran rx1 skis on it with the great big keel on them thinking the sled would push with the longer track. it didnt really, it would still carve corners awesome.

The biggest change was the rear end/seat didnt come up and spank my behind in the bumps, its like a 14 foot boat vs a 16-17ft boat in rough water, it just simply spans over the waves/bumps more instead of dropping into every one created by the 121 on and off the gas on the trails, really smoothed out the ride.
Of course you get better traction as well with a bit more track on the ground but the ride far outweighs anything else in my opinion.

I 136'd my viper and agree with everything Don has said. Handle, ride, and traction all were on the plus side.

Nice Don. I dont think I have seen that sled before!

x2!!Nice looking sled Don. Question for you, what 5.35 skid wheels are you/ did you use on that sled? Those look like a black oem wheel.

Off alot of years polaris indy. The wheels are sold in like kimpex lines and such also in the aftermarket. you want the 5.350" diameter ones. There will be 2 differnt inner hub diameters listed but it doesnt matter which one you get as its only the plastic bushings in them. They all use the same bearing. You will just reuse your stock yamaha plastic bushing, and then the wheels bolt right on like stock. Makes a big differance in how easy it rolls.

I went with the Hartman 144 kit w/ skid relocation. Everything has improved. Ride, traction, etc. I also installed the larger idler wheels from OFT Racing along with a low snow wheel kit. If you don't want to re-locate the skid, you can just do the 144 rail extensions from Tracks USA, they have the tip up in the back so it'll be turn better. But honestly, mine are straight and I have never had issues with turning or handling. I also dropped down tooth on the top gear. Pic below will give you an idea of a 144 w/ relocation. I am using Tracks USA 136 extensions currently. I swapped them out with Hartmans as I like the look better of these ones.

To be honest, I've seen some great deals on mountain max's and mtn vipers in BC kijiji, better prices than what you can get them for here in Saskatchewan. If I lived in the mountains like you I would just pick one of those up and leave your srx stock. I have mine longtracked to 144 with a tracks USA extension and long travelled with longer shocks up front and in the rear suspension. And although I did bring it to Revelstoke a couple of times it is pretty much set up nicely as a boondocking sled for around home here, not a good mountain sled.

Who did the wrap? that thing looks badass. I would love to do a blue/white/silver digital camo like that on my MM

Here's a good example here.....

http://princegeorge.kijiji.ca/c-car...-1998-700-Mtn-max-Exc-cond-W0QQAdIdZ547291709

It's piped, has a 2" track and ready to go at a reasonable price. By the time you do all the work to yours and spend about 1,000.00 you still wouldn't get it to work as well in your conditions as this sled. Just something for you to think about.

I was just looking at that add today!lol.

Ya I am not sure yet. Like I said my girl is dialed in good. I might kick myself for messing with it.
Picking up another sled might be a better option.

Thanks! Edgewraps.com did the wrap. They sell some kits on ebay. The kit was only $110, and the tunnel wrap was $60. They will do whatever colors you want in any kit.
