Because of the high speed hard pack riding we do I opted not to go with a 11/4 9818 and stay with the oem studded with 144. Now, My viper is piped so I want to get as much of that hp to the ground when off trail, was thinking of maybe going from the traction masters to the mega bites. Will the mega bites be an improvment over the TM in the off trail snow as far as acceleration? What length is maximum on the viper, running the 1.075 now, thought if i went up in length and switched to the 4 flat sides of the MB's I may be able to accomplish what I want to some degree. Any input on this guys? Thanks TBerry

In my '01 srx and on my brother's '03 viper, we're running 1.175" studs w/no problems, all heat exchanger protectors intact. I had 1.075" for the first 2 years, and upgraded the studs to the 1.175" (216pc.) Although I really don't want to ride w/out studs, I picked up a 1.25 camoplast anyways to try this year, because I saw the difference on a friend's sled and it works (except on icy roads)!

i upgraded to the 1.175 last year with 00 srx 2200 miles last year no problems,, and the square mega bites are the best stud on the market the differance in ecceleration is so"ooooo worth it good luck
Did you guys notice a big differance going from the 1.075 to the 1.175 on acceleration? I studded my track (pre- pipes) so I am a little under studded with 144, thought the longer studs might help some.

I put the longer studs in during the summer, along w/adjustable transfer rods, and I know that both together helped, because I beat people out of the hole that I ran with or couldn't beat out of the hole before. Honestly I couldn't say if one helped more than the other, but together it worked nice.
