I see quite a few new SRX owners on here this year and I thought I'd share my own way of reinstalling the exhaust pipes to help the guys that do their own maintenance.Removal is pretty straight forward, pull the springs and slide them out, usually all three at once is easiest but for putting the jigsaw back together what works for me is to mount the pto side pipe, stamped #1,and hook the springs so it stays in place. Then take the mag side pipe,#3,and set it in place loosely then take the centre pipe,#2,and work it under the #3 one and slide it into place. Now put the springs to them and your good to go.
FYI to make this job easier I suggest investing in a good quality spring hook, one with the capability to pull the spring as well as push because there's one spring on the mag side pipe that's a real pain to put on and if you have the tool that allows you to push the spring onto the loop it'll make the task that much easier.

FourBarrel got this discussion off to a good start. I find the only way to get these pipes off and back on is to remove all the springs from the entire exhaust system then work the pipes, often two pipes coming out or going in together. As Fourbarrel says, a quality spring tool is important. I also find a small vise grip pliers to be very helpful for the springs which the spring tool can't be used. It takes a bit of patience and practice to get them in and out. Be sure to check the tension on the springs holding the pipes to the exhaust manifolds. If these springs are weak, the pipes will rattle around on the exhaust donuts and wear them out. These donuts provide a critical seal. Don't ever ride the sled with deteriorated exhauts donuts or you will suffer from a lean burn-down.
