today I took my yammie around thr feild for a few laps and I notice id did have a speedo or tack...i have no idea of ever where to start looking...can anyone give me some ideas???

broken wires or worse, stator, what is your headlight doing at startup and running at rpm

if the sled is 'running good" then more then likely its a wire harness issue under the engine or at hood hinge. usually when the stator goes bad they dont run too well and are very hard to start after its warmed up, so if none of those things are a symptom, I would pull the harness and look there first.

doesn't your speedo not need power to work? or are you talking about the back lights? because if that speedo isn't moving your drive bearing is gone or close to it.
2x on where the harness goes by the hood hinge point. had to trace a broken wire for the temp light that was broke there.

Thanks guys. ya im taking about the speedo and tack themselves, it was light out so I didn't notice anything with the lights, ill look into the wiring harness...and ya I was worried about that it might be track bearings, because a buddy of mine had a cat and the speedo didn't work, and then his jackshaft bearing seized
