Is it possible to put a 13 wide chain on a 98 srx 700 that had a 15 wide?I figure i'll have to make some shims for the width difference. Also what gearing should i use for aggressive trail riding?150lbs. rider ,m-10 suspension ,cut heads, thicker base gasket, lite weight brake rotor, northen lites front suspension with Fox Float shox (lighter front end).Dont want to lose any or little on top end(live on a lake). Thanks for the input.

yes, you can put it on, no shims will be needed. You just need to use both the top and bottom gear the same as the chain. meaning if you use newer gears and chain from the srx from 2000-02 they are 13 wide hyvo. If you use std 13 wide like whats on the vmax and sx they will also fit just use all the same, either hyvo or non hyvo.
23/38 is popular for a srx , if you want more aggressive trails for quicker get up and go use 22/38. With a m10 rear suspension, i would not say your going to get big topend as they reduce that quite a bit.
