Are there any tricks to this? I'm trying to take out the slop with a shim kit and got all bot 2 bolts out using heat. I got the nuts off but can't get the bolts out even pounding with a sledge hammer. Grrr!!!

Seriously dealt with this an hour ago. There is a metal sleeve on the bolt that goes through the scissor. That is rusted on there bad. I have spares on parts sleds so I just cut my scissors with an angle grinder. Air hammer between the bolt head and the scissor after heating it up?

That's about my only idea.

If I have stubborn scissors arms I remove the ski, unbolt the tie rod ends, loosen the ski bracket, then take out the top bolt holding the sway bar on, but before doing this I remove all the nuts on the scissor bolts. Next, I take the C clip holding the steering arm to the frame. Now carefully tap the ski bracket off. You may have to use a big screwdriver or chisel to spread the bracket apart a bit. Maybe even use a little heat, but not too much. Too much heat will damage the shock. Now with this assembly off, I can use ALOT of heat and put it in my vise with a socket over the head of the bolt and press it out. I even have an old bolt that I modified to press the collars out. If your having a ton of trouble at this point, chances are you will have to take the ski bracket to a machine shop and have them drill out that collar. Those are usually stuck pretty good. Also, there is an allen head set screw in the ski bracket. You do not need to remove this. I usually try to get it out and remove it IF it appears to be in decent shape. More than likely they are stuck beyond removal. You can drill them out if you like, but I have never had a problem getting the bracket off with out loosening this set screw. Be careful with the sledge hammer. you may end up bending the bolt and removal will be next to impossible with out a heavy duty drill press or a mill.

Bingo! Thats about the only way. Soak them with a 50/50 mix of ATF and acetone as well. By far the best penetrating oil.
