Hey guys I've been looking for a viper and it seems that just about all of them with over 4k miles have had to be rebuilt. Is this a fluke with just the ones im finding or is this a known issue with these sleds?
Thanks!

vipers have a few issues in stock form that are easily remedied. Add a rear cooler, opticool head gasket, and raise the needles and they can be very reliable. That said you can find a few members here with well over 10k that have never been touched

I've got over 13,000 miles on my 02ER and 1 set of pistons at 9,500. I too have seen a rash of crankshaft issues, but can't imagine why. Sled has never been fogged. Ran a can of Seafoam in it at the end of each trip. Broke it in with Yamalube for 1 tank of oil, and then Amsoil for the rest of its life. Also put a Tempaflow on it at 3,500. It's run perfect every trip.

Bought mine with 14000km on it. It was never opened prior to me owing it. I did a complete tear down and preventative maintenance. Mine came with a rear cooler, I also raised the needles just to me sure.

We got 5 in our group now and not one has ever been rebuilt. Bullet proof if you know what to do with them as staggs said.

many years of not storing the sleds correctly takes it's toll.
