From what I understand I should be at 268.5mm
With the torque arm bolted in and the motor mount bolts out I can only get 267mm, I tried loosing up the torque arm bolts and bracket on the bulkhead but only gained .5mm

Anyone else run into this ?

Is 268.5 the magic distance or am I splitting hairs ?

It's been a while ago but I remember Turk mentioning 268.5 is pretty important.

this is with the motor sitting crooked. there should be a 1mm offset. This makes the motor look like it is back on the mag side. Sometimes, you do have to ream the holes on the frame mount to get it perfect. Also, watch that secondary bolt, sometimes they get bent a bit. Give it a check before you start grinding holes.

The offset is there to make the sheaves line up under load. I have always set it this way. Others tell me they line it up square. Not sure what is better without testing.

Thanks Tony.
Betheviper,
Where are you measuring the 1MM offset from ?
I assume it is from the straight edge running across the back of the clutch and secondary.
That is a intersting idea, I wonder if anyone has tested the two diffrent set-ups.

Thanks a bunch !!!

I always thought that was only on the sleds without the torque arm. The sled Pro alignment tool comes with shims for sleds without the torque arm to set it like BTV describes

Like I said, I have been told both ways are correct. I have always used the offset way good or bad. Even on the stand, wacking the throttle with a torque arm, the rh side of the motor comes ahead, imagine it does even more when it's hooked up. I have never done hole shots with my hood up to see though, just speculation.
I am measuring, center of bolt, to center of bolt with tool set so it is parallel to the frame.

sorry I think I was vauge. I meant do you guys worry about if the jack shaft (secondary) and the crank shaft (primary) are parallel with each other.

This is the first time I have had the engine out of my SRX since the dealer did the crank back in 98. It looks like they had it around 265MM CC.

I apprecitate the info.
