measured my helix by using a dial gauge angle finder using a nut on the magnetic base and measured my hauck G and got 50 47. i see everyone getting 47 39 what am i doing wrong. also measured advant-edge helix that i thought was a 48/40 and thats what it measured.( i thought it should be around 54/44) measured a stock 47 and got 45. any help would be helpful

I think people make the mistake and measure the top and then the very bottom, so your going to be off because the clutch never rides up at the top nor the very bottom. You have to measure where the button sits, starts and ends its stroke on the ramp.
Its not that your measurement is wrong, its just not accurate for what your trying to obtain because of where the button rides on the ramp and why you and many others have listed helixs with differnt angles then what they are stamped or marked.

Look at your clutch when its on the sled and youll see. Even with a belt off it wont be at the tip of the ramp, not to mention the ramps are cut on a radius so even a straight angle helix has a radius in it so its not a straight line. this is why some helix brands are more aggressive then others are its how long and what radius they use to go from angle to angle on a helix, some hold the start out and some use a deeper radius in the cut, this makes it more aggressive.

I have used the same method as above to measure helix''s. Not that I am a pro at it but I measured one that was marked with the angle and it did show the same as what was marked. Is there another angle finder that would be more accurate? The angle finder I use was a $10 ebay one. But seemed to work. Thanks

I just don't get why people feel the need to measure them. I can understand measuring an unknown helix to get an idea what it is but beyond that find a brand you like and run with it. then you can actually decide what you need for a helix change. or if you're using somebody else's setup use the same brand helix.
