I'm looking at studs for my 01 SRX and have access to a Woodys template but wondered what other guys use? I'm going 144 in the middle the same as my 98,it seems to work for the kind of riding I do,I thought about 168 but don't know as I need that many. It's nice to have when that impromptu race happens but there's the added cost of the extra studs, nuts and backers so I guess I'll stick with my original plan.Anyway to get to my original thought what are you guys using for studding templates?Or do you design your own?
I looked a t a few others on eBay but to be honest they all seem to follow the same kind of pattern, just a V.

Didn't know anyone who had a template and wasn't about to pay for one so I designed my own pattern. Didn't make a template, just used the paint pen. Figured I'd get alot more scratch lines that way. Came out really good.

Are you running all double backers/studs?

I started out with a woody's pattern and changed it to own design. We have a few different ones. All 144 in the middle. Mine is a 4-2 pattern and my father in law is a 4-3-2 pattern. Still to new to say which is better but both look very sick. Still waiting for snow to try them. Both are a V pattern. Mine with the V has it in multiple ways. V up And back Down. Where My father in laws is a V down. Will have to report back when we get to try them.

They are really a waste of money for a guy that has some basic backyard skills. They just follow the same path as mentioned. You can have alot better job and run less picks with going for as many differant scratch lines as possable.A good memory a paint pen helps just brake the sections up in 4 guarters.
