I know my Viper is supposed to run the NGK BR9ES sparkplug. Recently I was at Fleetfarm where they normally have a good stock of NGK plugs but they had no BR9ES plugs.....not even a slot for them on the shelf. The closest they had was the BPR9ES. According to the NGK catalog the "P" stands for projected......as in the electrode. Has anyone used these on a stock Viper? If so how did they work in comparison?

Are you sure about the BR9ES? I thought all the power valve motors ran the BR9ECS, The 04 Viper S I bought came with BR9IEX (iridium or something) I thought the BR9ES were for the red heads?

Vipers still run the good ol BR9ES plug. The Ecs was for the SRX's and expensive as I remember. Never heard of a BPR plugs or what the difference is.

Same here and they had a bucket load of them. As said they normally have a bucket load of the BR9ES most likely for the sledders and there wasn't even an empty slot for them. The NGK catalog in the aisle shows a 2002 SX Viper calling out for the BR9ES too.
Confused to say the least.

Especially as I just bought 3 cases from RLBock for a REALLY good price! Good to know, I haven't heard of the BPR either

I almost bought br9ecs plugs but they are almost $15ea. The br9es plugs are $3ea and I believe are now just as good as the ecs. Supposedly NGK made a change to them....

From what I found on the net the doo and poo guys prefer them. No mention of running them in a Yamaha. Maybe this is part of why the doos/poos burn down so much? Per what I could find they don't replace each other on any plug chart. Personally I would steer clear of them.

SHOP AROUND! I have found them for $5 bucks a plug and I wouldn't run an BR9ES in ANY of my SRX's. At the very least the ECS is another little insurance policy that I like having.

What is on your belt guard is what is recommended. Anything thing other then stock I would run the more expensive ones. But that's just me.

vipers never used the br9ecs, just the br9es. The srx only ran the br9ecs for long wide open runs, its thought to put slightly less heat into the crown of the piston. I have used br9es with no problems trail riding a srx. The br9ecs would be better suited if you just run ma and pas trailside fuel and such, but its not gonna blow up if you dont, unless the fuel is low octane and the jetting is lean. None of which the sparkplugs can keep the engine from sustaining damage anyways!
I would not use a projected electrode in either sled.

Are these Denso Iridium crossovers to the BR9ES worth the triple cost?
