No top speed with sxr side by side plus clutch getting warm.
Ok here goes. I used to see top speed up to 120 on speedo. now sits around 97-98. Clutch sometimes makes a chatter. Hot to touch. My sons 01 sxr 136 can stay with me and sometimes pull a little from me. I used to be about to pull on him without a problem. Seems like it has alot of ski pressure but not sure. we both have 1 1/4 track. I have the expert x and he has a stock suspension. Trying to figure this out for the last 2 years. snow is low for me to keep testing. I did take the clutch apart and checked. Nothing i could see.
thanks Joe
Also here is my cell number if it is easy 717 629 7237

when you installed these tracks, what did you do about your guard clearance? anything above 3/4 will drag on stock guards, like driving with the brakes on or towing someone past 70mph

when is the last time you replaced the primary spring? might be weak and thus out of spec. they are usually only $10.00 for an oe one.

Never. What if I wind it tighter by one degree to see if that helps. If I am right the extra degree should make it tighter. Then if that it replace with new one. Actually thinking what if I do that with both springs. Wind each one a extra degree.

Check your motor mount bolts. I had one come loose on me and it wasnt pretty.

We took the guards out since we have no picks. Had same track since I lost speed. One year it was good then trying to figure it out ever since. I have about 1.5 gap at 15 lbs kinda loose but same tension every year.

If the clutch is chattering, I'd start there. Bushings are probably shot. Springs sacked out.
You can wind the secondary tighter, but no winding the primary. For the money, just replace them.

Mine was the one behind the primary. Looked normal at idle but it would pull the clutches out of alignment. Check them good. My missing bolt hid real well.

Here is a video at idle to engagement. Does this look normal from what you can tell?

Checked engine. Looks good. Secondary at 80 was 70. Seems like lost 5 mph now. Used to go 97-98 now around 90 give or take.

I was thinking. The other thing I noticed was I don't really hear the clutch whine when coming to a stop. The backshift noise if I am correct.

From your description:
1.)clutchs are hot=belt slip
2.)low on rpm=loss of tension on primary spring.
tells me the primary spring is sacked/junk

Ok thank you. Now I just have to figure out where to get the springs. I guess I will replace both. Nearest dealer is 1 hour away and dont have them.

Link to Port Yamaha, $18-$21 depending which one you need (should be paint dots identifying it) Shipping cost or time ???? Good time to order anything else you may need. Plenty of them getting parted out here if you want a used one for now.
