I got a replacement seal for this old merc, as for pressing in the replacement seal, would it work if I place the new seal on the shaft and as I begin to install the shaft, slowly tighten the flangette and guide the seal in so that the sealed bearing presses the oil seal on?
Or should I remove the chain case and have a local bearing shop press the seal into place?
