So I'm picking up a dx parts sled this weekend. Gonna use a few things off of it and I'm thinking of swapping the tunnel with a 600 standard I have to make my own mountain max. The parts sled comes with all the plumbing and everything so I'm wondering how difficult would this swap be? This is not primarily why I am buying the parts sled just a fun project in the back of my mind. I'd be converting a 96 max 600 standard with the same style, yearish, vmax dx tunnel.

tunnel swaps are a big pita! 100's of rivets to remove and re-install and they dont come out easy.

you have nothing to gain swapping tunnels between the two. they are essentially the same, the big difference is the added extension on the rear for the 136, some supporting bracketry, and the rear bumper.

still a pain to swap even that rear extension. theres at least 100 rivets just for that including the heat exchanger. hard not to do visible body damage. one of those "you have to want to do it" projects.

on a side note, if you opt not to pursue that project, i am in desperate need of the longer rear exchanger used on the dx and st models for a project i am doing.

It would be a completely want to do project as my standard has no issues. Just want a mountain max Ill see what happens and ill let you know for sure. Thanks for the input.

doing another one now, 121-136.1.5" track, dropped down to 8t drivers, mild drop brackets.

parts the customer brought out for the extension and exchanger were rough. re worked the extension components to useable condition, exchanger is too far gone and the tiggers around here are pricy as well as busy.

I have a whole bunch of stock parts for a 141" mountain max, you could start with that and see what else you need.
