1. I am returning to the hobby after 20 years.
2. I am having a hard time finding a spare belt online. I searching for an 8DN-17641-00 but all my searches turn up 8DN-17641-01. Are they the same?
3. I noticed the current belt has the arrow pointing backward. Does it matter?

Thanks guys.

i herd that the 01 belt was a little thicker? idk if this is true tho maybe some one else can shed some light on this.
apparently the belt wont last as long running backwards, so take it off and flip it over

The 01 will fit. You might need to adjust the deflection. I use the 01 and have for years. I think the 01 is a little harder than the original. It's not a good idea to run that belt backwards, take it off and install it so that the arrows run in the right direction.

I know a lot of guys will say to stick with Yamaha belts, but if your looking for a solid spare the Carlisle Ultimax XS 10-xs805 works very well on these sleds.
These are all I run, Im on my second year 1700kms on the same belt and it still looks great. I also use these as a spare, as my friend does with his 99 sx 700, he is also on his second year with the same belt.
I also find they give a bit better performance as they are a bit softer than the Yamaha belts. These belts also seem to fit great as a replacement for stock without needing any adjustment.

My riding is mostly trails/lakes and in march/april usually tons of slush. (which says something for these belts, since Ive seen an SRX blow 3 Yamaha belts going down one 15km slush covered lake)
The SRX may have had the clutches adjusted improperly though, didnt know the history of the sled.

Thanks a lot for all the help. Another question- I noticed the secondary clutch can be moved in and out on the shaft about 1/16-1/8" with little effort, is that normal? I heard it when I released the brake after stopping hard. I opened the hood and was able to recreate the sound by moving the secondary.
