Hello all I have a 97' sx700 redhead triple runs good but doesn't hook up well. Looking to replace the track with 1.25 ripsaw, Is it worth while to swap out the rear shocks to a long travel? I understand the viper is the best source for the shocks to update the 97 skid? Any pointers and upgrades for the the sx model would be great thanks. The power seems adequate for now I can't hook what it makes right now. I mostly ride hard pack and enjoy a solid hole shot. I realize it might be a dated sled but I can tell it has way more to give lol
get used to it.. I run a 1" track but it wont ever hook. iirc you have to be careful with the 1.25" track as it rubs against the cooler I believe..?? I know someone will chime in, but just be warned
as for the skid, my 2002 viper was leaps and bounds better than the skid on my 97 sx..

I'm not sure that's all a bad thing..you might be trading that for crisp response once up to speed.
Another thing, this set-up was 'Snowmobile of the Year' back in the day....

get a ripsaw 2, adjust for more transfer, get long travel shocks (just need longer limiter straps). properly setup these things hook up real good. i believe 1.25 lug tracks will fit but just remove heat exchanger protectors anyways.
thanks guys. you say I do not need to change shocks to achieve more travel, just lengthen the limiting straps?

My son had to take his H/E guards off when he put his 1.25 ripsaw on his 99 SX6. Plenty of room after those were off.Probably should have gone with a 1.5 after we realized it. We had enough room on my 97 SX7 when I put a 1" Aggressor on so we left the guards on.
