Hi all,
Over the fall I pulled the carbs off my 2003 viper cleaned them up. I followed the instructions on this site. Went to start sled tonight. Choked sled, started up, move choke to 1/2 position. Let sled idle for 2 mins at this point. At the 1/2 choke position idle was around 1500. When I finally went to full open choke the engine begins to race. It almost seems to "runaway" within about 15 sec the idle will climb to +4000 rpm at this point I killed the motor. Restarted motor only to have the same problem. Help please. I turned the idle adjust screw to the point where is doesnt even touch the throttle actuator on the carbs. Also there is plent of slack in the throttle cable between the bracket and actuator. Thanks!

x3 ^^^^^^. Spray carb clean around the boots(or wherever) when running and listen for a change in RPM.

I would look and make sure you have not unthreaded the tors switch from the idle adjusting screw, as it will hold the throtlle slightly open and rev up the engine as you describe.

Props to mrviper700! Not exactly but close. Turns out I didn't turn the locknut on the throttle cable adjuster, while idling it must have backed itself out, causing the carbs to open up. Sled is running good, but it backfires while idling? Any ideas?
Thanks for the help!

Slacken the throttle cable a bit more it is too tight causing the tors to activate.
