I just replaced the gear drive on my sx 700 and my speedo started working again. I rode 20 kms today and now my rpm guage and my speedo are bouncing around like crazy. My odometer seems to be working fine. I unplugged the connector at the back of the guage cluster and checked it and plugged it back in and with the sled on the stand my rpm guage appears to be working ok now. I unhooked the speedo cable off the back of the speedo and ran the sled and the cable is turning as I apply throttle.
Not sure whats going on? The rpm guage and the speedo work totally diffferently so hmmm... Not sure. Any insight for me?
I'll see how she reacts tomorrow however I may have solved the erratic rpm needle but the speedo I'm not sure.

should be able to pull the speedo drive thru the cable grease and replace.

I don't understand what your saying
take the cable off the meter..pull out the center drive wire..grease and replace.

At the speedo end?
yep..when you replace rotate so it seats right in gear drive and meter.
