Out for a ride on my newly acquired 2001 SRX 700 today. I am experiencing interminute issues with what appears to be the rev limiter cutting in at 7000 rpm or so. I pulled the wiring harness out from under the engine and checked and retaped everything, as well as the cdi and the wiring harness around the dash but did not find anything. Tomorrow I am going to check the flywheel and the stator. What ohms do I need? Is there something else I should check. There is one other issue that I should mention the high beam light in the dash stays on on both high and low beam and the light in the speedometer goes out on low so there may be something I am missing. There is a helmet plugin tied into one of the headlights.

Fixed it was rust on the flywheel causing the pickup coil to miss. Cleaned it up and works like a charm.
Great catch, and thanks for updating this thread. Always helps the next guy with similar troubles.

I am still having issues with the back light in the speedometer when at low beam. Any thoughts?
