well, just like the guy said, it is basically a rx1 with a 136, i'm sure gearing may be a tooth lower and will be clutched for the tiny bit longer track, great motor. My dad's friend has one with 15,xxx on it and still runs strong, changes his oil on time and just basic maintenance. I always thought that that motor was 140hp and the apex genesis 150 is 150 hp. They are great on gas, extremely reliable, and a true gas and go sled.
If it was closer to me I would have already bought it
Someone on another forum said there were chaincase, jackshaft issues, Suspension/hyfax issues etc... Is there anything I need to look for , or something that is a common issue with the 04?

it is the same skid as on your viper other than the rear shock is longer. his mpg is off a bit as they usually averaged 16-19 mpg depending on conditions/flipper abuse. cc are off as well as I think it is 948. over all it is a really good sled that has the same flaws as the proaction did in sx chassis sleds and that is a pretty good price for that mileage around here. see if he is willing to move on the price any.
we bought my brother an 04 just like that with more milage 3 seasons ago and it is still running strong. just keep in mind that there will be some maintenece items due on it.

I've heard to just listen to the exhaust and make sure its a smooth humm.. If there is a raspy tone, the exhaust donuts might need replacing.. and to check the w arm?

Nice sled. These will run forever with proper maintenance. Like others have said, skid had issues, but the 136 is a smooth ride compared to the 121. May use oil, I had 2 03's, one burnt oil, the other did not even when I sold it with 7K on it. The jackshaft bearing was updated on the 04. No issues with chaincase.
Put oversized idlers on the skid and eliminate the hyfax issues which is common on all Yamahas. Will be a good sled to havce and put a smile on your face when you hit the flipper. Price a bit high for me but around here, guys are asking that and more. My brother picked up an 03 with 1100 miles for 3200. Good luck!
