My friend has a 2001 venture 500 that blew up last year. He's wondering if a 600 motor would also bolt in as he found a 600 for sale. Idk what year the motor is, he didn't say in the text, I guess he's wondering what his options are. I know he'd have to do some clutching, carb work (jets etc.), stuff like that if it a 600 motor would work
Let me know what his options are, if any...
Thanks
EDIT---Motor is out of an 1998 XTC 600 if that helps. It comes with the carbs and wiring he told me as well.

Yes it will. If it's a 600 twin, then the 2 motors are practically identical, aside from the displacement. I know there were 600 triple ventures too when the 600 triple replaced the 600 twins. Those would fit to, but there may be a few small change needed. Might need a triple bulkhead or something but it can be done. This is provided that the 500 was a liquid cooled sled..

Motor that blew was 500 liquid twin, engine to replace it is a 600 liquid twin.

98 xtc was the twin, so if the 500 is liquid, its pretty close to a bolt in from what I understand. yeah some things may need adjustment, clutches, carbs, but yeah, should be a simple swap.
Yamaha even listed my 600 in with the 500 liquid in the microfiche. Iirc, the fancooled venture is a venture xl, and the water cooled one is simply a venture 500. Now, the venture 6pp has smart carbs, but the 600 xtc had normal carbs. So no biggie.

Easy swap then.
