Hi guys new here but have already found tons of info. Great site.

I have seen and read a few different people putting newer suspensions in older sleds.

We have about 2.5' of snow an a good 16" powder. These old girls don't like it haha they get stuck everywhere.

Here's my predicament.

I love both my old sleds but found a 87 exciter 570 blown up(and actually tore apart not thrilled about that) for 150 bucks

Originally I thought about putting the 121" track and skid and TSS front on the 340.

And I'm sure it would be bad ***, but now I'm thinking of buying it throwing some pistons in it and ditch banging with it.

What do you guys think would be more fun and practical for powder riding.

I think I have more upgrade possibilities with the 570 in the future(xtra10 skid and stripping all the weight I can)

What would be a major set back in putting the 87 suspension in one of my 80s?

Gear box, drive clutch, drive gear and make the skid fit is all, right?

Thanks for the info and feedback.

I have until Sunday to buy the 570. I hope you guys can help me make my mind up!

A friend of mine has an 87 enticer with a 121 skid in his. He made rail extensions for his though. Anyways I think all he did was change out the drivers to 2.52 pitch and that was it. The problem with these older sleds is once you put longer skids in them, they loose their ability to handle like they should....but, you can take on the powder no problem. He also has a SS440 with a 144" and a 88 phazer with a sc10 3 skid and 144" track on it. Those things can go anywhere, but good luck with the steering! I say go for it, because they are sweet machines!

They handle like turds already! Haha couldn't get much worse.

So you think I should throw the 87 susp under the 80 rather than just riding the 87?

Mine handles great! Mines all stock and will be staying that way. It's entirely up to you. Depends on what ya want, if you think they handle like crap now...you probly won't like how it handles after. You will be able to take it through the bush without getting stuck as much. These things don't have much suspension, so if your going for comfort...go for it! But I can guarantee it you won't like how it handles. I say go for it!!

My ovation with a 121 handles just has good has before.
I say upgrade the skid in your favorite sled, to make it even better.
