my oil flight started flickering on and off, sometimes coming on dim then bright last year, BUT NOT FLASHING .checked harness for rubs but looks ok, just picked up another oil tank and sensor used, is it easier to change the whole tank or just swap sensors? oil tank that i just picked up is the same shape and same sensor but one side has a coolant overflow that mine doesn't have. can these sensors be pulled out used and replaced?? i'll drain the oil down enough so that it doesn't leak out.

Is this for an SRX? If I recall correctly, this sounds like normal operation for a when the oil level is just starting to get low enough to trigger the light. Was your oil at that low of a level?

It's been a few years since I had an SRX that low on oil, but I do recall the light flickering for awhile and maybe it was a bit on the dim side here and there until the oil level got low enough for the sensor to consistently read the low oil condition. I don't recall the light flashing a sequence due to low oil, just on solid after the oil level was finally low enough that the light would no longer flicker. Seems that this took miles though. Once that light started flickering, it would take a few miles to finally come on solid, and I could still ride for half a tank of gas or more it seems with whatever oil was still in the tank.

my 2000 srx was called back when new for that oil sensor. mine was replaced under warranty. mine did flicker even though tank was filled. i have update part number if ya need it. you would need to go to dealer to see if number was still good. 3:16 (YAMMIE TONY)

X2 on the 2000 model year "issue". My 00 does it and I know its full or damn near so I don't worry about it. Seems to do it more at idle/low RPM

yes its for a 99 srx. i'm going to try the used one first to see if its fixes the problem, and yes its full when it is flickering and does it most at idle , wanted to know if they can be removed and re installed without damaging the rubber.
