Have a 97 mm twin with a broken front left engine mount (frame side) and im wondering if the triple and twins have the same front bulkhead. Looked at a parts source and called the dealer and they say its removable by a few bolts and rivets. But the part is dicontinued by the sounds of it. So id need to go to a wrecker. Just as the title says are they interchangable?

The online Yamaha dealer microfiche show the same part number for both the 1997 MM600 & 1997 MM700. And this is for either the "Front Frame Comp" or the "Frame Connection Kit", both of which show the cast alum bulkhead in their corresponding diagram. There is also a price for the "Front Frame Comp" so that usually means it is still available. But you need to be sitting down to see the price...

Okay ive looked on yamahas part site and seen it listed to, so maybe ill call another one of my dealers then since they could be lazy to find it.

maybe have an aluminium welder look at it? might be cheaper to weld and brace it rather than change the whole sled over.

That idea was sitting in the back of my head to. I dont have the engine mount tab that broke off, it was gone before i bought the sled.

That vertical piece that the engine bolts up to isnt a piece on its own? When i looked at it, it looked like it was. Or does it go under the engine and all?

The front bulkhead that the suspension and shocks mount to is a cast aluminum part all on its own, and it is attached to a bunch of other formed sheet aluminum panels that cradle the engine and extends behind the jackshaft & driveshaft, which is where the tunnel attaches. The parts I noted above on the fiche do not include the tunnel, they are the cast aluminum bulkhead attached to the formed sheet aluminum cradle, I'm sure you could see it on Yamaha's diagram. The cast aluminum bulkhead may have been available separately years ago, I don't recall, seems it isn't available on its own now.

Any chance that what broke is actually one of the engine brackets that mounts between this bulkhead and the engine. The engine brackets just bolt in place and are usually a combination of formed steel, cast aluminum, and vibration damper.

Ill get a picture up for you guys tmrw. As i may be describing it wrng

Didnt manage to get a picture today but it definetly isnt on the engine side as the piece is hollow and when i look through i see the ground. Its infront of the engine and the steering connects to it and it stand straight up and down. Then the engine mounts bolt up to it

Sounds like the cast aluminum front bulkhead. It can be replaced but it isnt a small job, just look at everything thats attached to it. Would need to find a used one, or buy the Yamaha "Front Frame Comp" if it is still available and you have deep pockets and its still a job because now the tunnel needs to be removed & reinstalled. Or maybe just find another complete chassis or sled to use.

*** thats not what i really wanted to hear.

I see if i can get a bracket welded up first.

Looking at it though it looks like there are rivets and bolts on both ends of it which would mean its a seperate piece.

This is what im looking at i think
