New to replace the battery on my sons 97 700sx and I would like a good one. I use interstate batterys in my cars with good success but a couple of years ago I put three new ones in my atvs. One did not last 3 months and the others lasted just about a year.
Original Yamaha batteries have been good for me, better than the less expensive discount store variety. I believe Yuasa is the brand name that I've seen on the side of the battery. I don't know if they are the absolute best available, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy one, which I may have to do soon on my 2007 (7 years on the original so far and still cranking). My 1995 lasted about 8 or 9 years as I recall, but the last year was cranking reallllly slooooow.

None of the small batteries are great. 2 years max of a life span. We have seen better success with the AGM versions. We buy only Deka brand batteries. The lead acid batteries do fail quickly. Check out an AGM only slightly more than a lead acid but you don't have to mess with filling the battery, plus no worries about spilling the acid if the unit is tipped over. Al

I use yuasa maintenance free ones in my sleds dirt bikes, quads and the newest one is 5 years old and works fine

I had to replace the battery in my venture last year, and there were not many options out there due to the odd size of the Yamaha battery. I went with a Yamaha yuasa, as that was the only one I could get.
