Hello,

I just purchased an 03 Viper with 441 miles on it. I cleaned the carbs, air box, main jet, pilot, and power valves. It starts and idles fine at 1,800 RPMS, when you rev it, it hovers around 3-4,000 RPMs before settling back down to idle. I bypassed the TORS and it reacts the same. Does anyone have a clue what could be casing this? Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

+1 ^^^

Back your fuel screws out a touch and she'll settle down real nice. Maybe 1/4 turn is all you'll need.

+2^^^ If that doesn't work you can try turning your idle down some. Some guys have had to idle all the way down to 12-1300rpm to get it to smoothing return to idle speed

I set the idle screws at 1 7/8 turns out as the manual states. Is there any way to adjust these without taking out the carbs? My guess is no.

You don't have to take them completely back out, pull air box remove them from reed boot and roll them over. Did you do anything with the needles? Or do you know if previous owner did? A lot of Vipers burning down with needles left in factory position. Search "raising needles" or just "needles) Common to raise to 3.25 for regular riding and 3.5 for the put put riders. A lot of guys adding rear cooler and Benders Opticool gasket if your not familiar.

I didn't even think to check the needle clip position while it had the carbs out. I will pull them and set the air screws at a little over 2 turns out. If that doesn't work, I will try turning the idle down. I appreciate everyone's help.
