So out riding the other day and my belt got destroyed at full speed. Upon inspection, the top edge of the primary sliding sheave had a small chunk missing.

This maybe a dumb question but it I make the edges of the chip smooth and not run at full idle, will I be okay until I find a clutch? Or will I just keep eating belts?

Thanks for your help.

I'd be very worried of the out of balance the missing chunk created. How big is it?

You could end up making a big mess of your clutch gaurd, hood, crankshaft and left foot even spinning it at just cruising speeds.
