I have read about the 2002 Viper fuel pump freeze problems and fixes and think I have some problem with my 2004 viper. When we run the snowmobile for short distance it runs great but longer runs at higher speeds the DCS comes on and the sled looses speed, I think we're not getting enough fuel to carbs to sustain for longer runs. I have taken the top and center sections off the fuel pump leaving just the bottom part with the diaphragm, the diaphragm is clear with liquid in the chamber below and in the sensing line. We talked to one of the local dealerships and they weren't sure if the liquid was moisture (water) or some sort of antifreeze to keep the sensing line from freezing. Does anyone know if the freeze problems that have been posted for the 2002 Vipers were still a problem in the 2004 or did Yamaha correct by putting some sort of antifreeze in the sensing line? Should the sensing line be clear of all liquids?
