02' Vmax 600 e/r lost brakes lever went right down to the handlebar like the fluid was lost..no brake power at all..thinking was some sort of ice issue..stopped for lunch 1 hour it sat in parking lot cured the problem..went all the way home 60 mi. without issue.

I'm not sure what exactly happened but is this something I could pop the hood and remedy right away?

Brake fade due to extended use? Boil the fluid?

Get the pads hot enough and they will stop working. Boil the fluid and the lever will go to the bar. It shouldn't last an hour though.

I've never done it on a sled but I don't use the brake much.

I did roll through a red light on Gratiot at 90 mph due to brake fade while street racing. Good thing it was 3:00 am.

Yes it was, southbound.

At the I-696 overpass just before the freeway opened.

The '70 GTO in the other lane had the same problem and we both went through... with our front drum brakes.

SPARTY ON!

GO GREEN!

My brother was driving it, me on his ski-doo when after a hour he waved me over and said the brake was out so I don't know if he was riding it but I'd doubt he'd do that..it's fine now..just wanted to know if it was common.

sounds like to me your brother was scared of all that power since hes normally riding a "ski dont" and rode the brake all the time....lol

I would suggest you flush the fluid out and put in new dot4 fluid. Once fluid gets hot like that and then sits it has a tendancy to corrode up or crystalize and it will freeze up the caliper pistons overtime, flush er out and fill with fresh.

Happened to me on my 700sx one time.... great twisty trail, on and off the brakes allot.... had to use the parking brake to slow down till the fluid cooled off enough ...... changed the fluid that night and was all good.
