Though you'd like to look at some pictures of screwed up pistons, cylinders, and head.

Machine has 5485 miles on it...

I'm open to any recommendations on where to get parts from.

Had the motor been apart recently?

The cylinders can be repaired - unless you can find good used ones for a good price. Although it possibly could be salvaged, I would look for a used head, a 600 might be the same. There have been quite a few sleds of that era being parted out recently.

Got remanufactured cylinders, used head, and new wisceo piston kit. Got it together and ran well for a week. (2-3 short trips). Tuesday night it overheated and stuck a piston. I can't find the reason it overheated.

I know a lot of people say that aftermarket pistons have to be warmed up good other wise they cold seizer very easily.

iPhone using the dreaded Crapatalk

Is not all aftermarket pistons, it's wiseco pistons forged and not hyperueretic construction that requires the sled to be warmed up properly. But usually that shoes a cold seize and 4 "corners" of the piston are fubared. Wiseco's are good, but the sled needs a thorough warm up before riding off. Otherwise the coolant in the motyor is warm, and when the t stat opens, a rush of cold coolant enters the motor, and bad things happen.

This does not appear to be that issue though. How are your reeds and carb boots?
