Good morning folks. My father bought me an 89 Ovation brand new in the Spring of 1990. I put many miles on that sled - up till the point where I left home for College. My father stored my sled away and recently surprised me with it (thinking that he got rid of it a while back). Its in pristine shape, but does need some TLC after sitting for so many years. My 5 year old son simply loves it, so we've decided to make this a project.

The one thing that I need to address is a while back the dealer that did the spring service on my sled (after I had left for College) broke the mount on the carb where the oil cable screws into. They 'patched' it with glue and wire. Needless to say, I would have pushed them to replace the whole carb but my father didn't push the matter.

At any rate, short of replacing the carb or removing the oil injection system all together (and mixing my gas), any ideas as to how I can securely fasten that cable back onto the carb?

Thanks!

IDENTICAL story, although my son is 11 and using it. The same cable mount broke on ours back in about 1996 or so and I black zip tied in two places to secure it and it's been that way ever since. But if I was to fix it now, I would use JB Weld, it hardens like steel but until it hardens its like clay. Great sled though. Actually thinking of putting on a used Phazer II track and suspension with a tunnel extender at Mod sled project. A pipe is available for it from Bender Racing that increases horsepower they claim by about 10 hp. Could be fun.

Last thing, the TORS (throttle override system) on our failed this winter. It's a safety feature but they go bad ALL THE TIME, even on the 2005 sleds. My 1995 vmax began shorting out so we simply unplugged it at the carb. The same thing happened this winter to the OVation, so we unplugged it at the carb too.

Have fun.

The same tab broke on my carb. It was just a good excuse to loose the entire oil injection set-up. Tossed the cable, pump and oil tank ; plugged the hoses and now I simply pre-mix.

For the TORS, I bypassed mine and installed a tether instead.
