While I was driving back home lastnight. First ride this season. I tried out my high beams. My RPM was about 7000-7300. As I pushed my high beam my RPM dropped to 5000-6000. Just for a second it stayed at 5-6 then carried on to 7000-7300. The power was delayed for a second. However I starting to pay attention to more stuff. My headlight is not as bright as it was last year. Also recalling it. The handle bar warmers are not as hot as they were last year.
Never had this occur. Any Ideas?

Check your flywheel. Small hole right in back of your recoil, Any rust on it? Easy enough to check, could take care of it.
if the tach moves erraticly when you change from high beam to low beam then more then likely the wiring harness is chaffed under the engine.

Did you find out the problem? I'm having a simular issue. sled was sitting for 2 years.
