The SRX, bless her heart, doesnt get much use lately but I still like to run her around the neighborhood occasionally when we get enough snow. In this area I have two potential choices when it comes to fuel. I could put "93 Octane" in from Speedway (with ethanol, of course), or 89 octane recreation gas with no ethanol. I dont get the opportunity to do any WOT runs so maybe the 89 would be a better choice due to the fact that the sled spends most of the time sitting in the garage. The 93 has proven to be prone to degrading quickly and leaving nasty deposits which require frequent maintenance. What would you guys do?

I have a 90 E free pump in my area. I baby sat pump for a while watching the meter numbers. Came to the conclusion that not a lot of it being sold. Raised my concerns about being stale. I run 93 with ethanol instead. I have become quite familiar with my carbs and would pull them to clean them even if I wasn't running ethanol fuel. Just my .02
I agree, the freshest gas would be best. I've ran ethanol gas in my sled for a couple years now with no problems. BUT, as I'm sure you know, I never ever store it with that crap in the tank, lines, or carbs. I always drive extra to make sure my last tank of the year was real gas.
Tough call on your case though, I'd side on running the non-ethanol blend if there is any chance the sled is sitting for awhile.

WOT runs probaby aren't where your engine sees the largest load (so, make that point irrelevant). I would use the 93 for sure but mix it with Stabil. Also, premix makes for a good fuel stabilizer...

We have 91 ethanol free which is what we run. But sometimes we have to run 89 or 87 with ethanol if the 91 is sold out. I would try to stay away from the ethanol if you can. The 89 will be fine IMO.

The fresh factor might be an issue. I don't know the volume at this station but I imagine its fairly low. Thanks all for youur .02!

If you run the 93, I would add an ethanol treatment. Otherwise, I think the 89 would suit you just fine.

I USE ETHANOL FREE 91 OCTANE. I WON,T RUN THAT CRAP IN ANY OF MY SLEDS. THAT STUFF DOSE NOT CAUSE DIRTY CARBS, IT DESTROYS ALL YOUR CARB O-RINGS. CAUSING HUGE ISSUES. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I have found several hundred ethanol boogers that would beg to differ. Not that I like running fuel with ethanol. If I had a 91 E free that I knew or even thought was fresh I would run it and add a little more octane booster. No amount of any booster can make stale fuel fresh again.

We have the same problem down here. We get enough snow to ride for 3 to 6 days every month on average. We run 93 with good fuel treatment. At the end of the season we empty the tanks and they stay dry through the summer. at the beginning of the season we clean the carbs and good to go.
