I was wondering what guys thought about the Pioneer Srx long travel kit makes the rear shocks equil to the SX-R and viper travel while keeping the ride height the same as stock, Is it worth the $375 just wondering I have a 02 SRX with Ohlins on the front

Y not install a viper skid u can pick those up 200/300$,my ride height gained 1 1/2" but rides better than stock skid

I have a viper skid in my 02. The ride height does NOT stay the same. The amazing cornering that the srx has will decrease I would say 30%.
However, it sure is nice to pin it through a whooped out trail and also when you don't see a bump coming there is 50% less of a jarring on your spine.

I am 30 now and not 20. My opinion is that the viper will stay in my sled but if I was 20 years old still, it may come out.

Now, if you find a viper susp, send the shocks to pioneer. He says he can do a revalve so they work much better. This has not been done to mine.

Pioneer claims that the Srx will be at the same height as stock So I would assume that it would handle the same only ride better instead of sitting up so high like the SXR and Vipers so you should still be able to corner and it will handle as stock.....I was wondering if anyone on here as had this done

Have you tried calling Bruce at Pioneer? I have spoken to him before.....seemed like a guy that will answer all of your questions.

he is real good to work with, stock viper u would want to send to him for revalve (huge difference in ride). if u buy his kit it already has the valving and matched spring rate for your weight and style. it my raise up a little but very minimal. i would go with his kit and have him put the extentions on your front ohlins to match it.

if you can find a set of olins for and rx-1 thay work great more ground clearance handles very well I have them on my 01 with fast m-10 in rear love it

I put the viper shocks in the back of mine< you will also need the longer transfer rods and the viper straps for the front w arm. on the front I used viper trailing arms and spindles to raise the front up. I notice better ride quality with little to no handling change. A friend I ride with has the pioneer revalved shocks in his and it"s night and day from mine.

I added the longtravel kit to my 99 SRX700, loved it! Bruce really knows his stuff. my srx maintained stock height but improved on the handleing as I was able to go alot faster and was beat up alot less! Bruces valving was spot on and my SRX rode better than my wifes Vmax longtravel sled. As long as your stock skid is still in good shape I would send in your shocks and get them lengthened and valved for your wieght and riding style and you won't look back!
Good luck!

i also just added a 2003 viper skid to my 99 srx , it now sits up 3 inch's higher and rides much better over the bumps. but it really slowed it down in drag racing, everyone that i was pulling away from last year are now right beside me or ahead, makes me want to go back to the old skid!!! i tried adjusting the shocks and tranfer rods but not launching or getting traction the way it was before, also too much ski pressure anyone have this problem???

I called Bruce, the owner of Pioneer Performance today. Basically, he said that the SRX will lose a little of its 'on rails' handling with his kit. He said we shouldn't see too much difference, and the ride quality is increased. There is also a company in Quebec (Star Suspension) that offers shock upgrade for the SRX. It seems to be less costly than the Pioneer route. I've heard good things about them, but obviously, Pioneer seems to be the reference in this department!
