Will be going and looking at a 92 Venture for my daughter. Wanted her to have reverse and not much HP as she is a throttle junkie. What are some things that I need focus on when looking it over. Looks like a Phazer frame w/o the headlight pod.

A Venture GT, I have the same sled. Nothing in particular is a problem with these sleds. Check the normal things that you would check on any sled - track and engine would be the main things, take a compression tester and check that.

The suspension is not the Pro-Action. It does not have a coil over shock, but has torsion springs with adjuster blocks. Simple, light weight, reliable and a good ride. The front swing frame is the weakest point, look for cracks there.

Since Yamaha made a dividing point at the 1990 model calling it the Phazer II, I refer to them as Phazer I, II, III and IV.

What was different on the Phazer IIs vs the Phazer I.

Also does anybody make 121-136 extensions for the skid in that Venture. I thought there were Ventures @ that era that came w/ a 136.

The main difference on the Phazer II was a longer track- from 116 to 121, and wider ski stance. There were other changes, the ski suspension was different, self adjusting brakes, a lower windshield, were some.

The Venture and the Phazer had long track versions. Original equipment was a bolt on extension for the suspension, so it is easy to convert. Extending the tunnel would be more of a project.
