We rode 161 miles on the old dinosaurs yesterday, checked my fuel mileage at 75 miles, took 5 gallons on the nose to refill it, 15mpg! Last weekend we went for a 100 mile ride and i got 14.6, thought it was a fluke, but did even better this time around. we were running pretty easy, averaging 40mph with a few hammer downs, and not looking for mileage. Rode with a 09 doo 800 power tech that got 7mpg, and blew up 40 miles into the ride, a 2012 doo 600 carb, best he got was 14. I was thinking about upgrading to an apex next season, but i think the srx is getting upgraded suspension and i will keep it around a while. Best mileage of the group, and the fastest sled there!!

I know back when I had an 98 SRX probably 12 to 13 years ago I got really good mpg's with it. It was amazing to have that much power and that much gas mileage. I still miss that SRX. There's something about those machines, they get under your skin. I've been thinking about getting another one, but I don't want to get rid of my Viper though and I don't know if two sleds are in the budget. LOL

That sounds great on the mileage numbers and I know a lot of SRX owners that still have relatively stock jetting can attest to those kind of numbers too. When my 98 was new I was on a long run and checked my mileage and I believe it was in the 14mpg area, which wasn't bad because we rode some old rail beds with half to 3/4 throttle running most of the time.I haven't had the chance to check my 01 yet but hopefully we get snow enough to ride AGAIN soon because I have an overnight trip planned with my son which will give me a pretty good chance to check both sleds.

I have a 01 and get very good MPG. Just changed helix and will see if it makes any difference.
Yep, I average 15 mpg on normal trail rides. Fast paced, semi aggressive. Just got back from our first trip up north and my group still can't get over that the yami with that many miles, can get double the mpg that they get with their big 800's and 900's. Even their 600's we're alot more thirsty. And still be the first across the lake. But that's a story I'm starting a new thread with.
The best I've ever gotten was 17 mpg on perfect trails. 170 miles on 10 gallons. You do have to remember that we're reading of an odometer/speedometer that is not accurate. So 16-15 would probably be more accurate.

My Viper gets better mpg than my 2012 MXZ 600 Carb. 10ish for the 'Doo, 15ish for the Yam.

My venture 6 gets 10 mpg at best ever, while my xç 600 so gets 15-16 mpg, the Indy 5 efi gets about the same as my xc, and the xcr 6 ( xlt based)got similar to that mid teens as well. All my friends sleds never got in the teens for mpg. 550, 580, 600 twin, 500 zl's, zrt 6, zr800, all did about 10 mpg. Efi or not.

I have TMX 38s on my 144" 2002 SRX and I regularly travel 150 miles before refueling when trail riding in a conservative style.
I worked with a guy that got 17mpg consistently with his Viper

I just bought a 2002 Yamaha venture 700 triple and cant believe the fuel mileage on it. We work in kilometers up here in Canada and compared to the Artic Cat 580 I had this one a short time but enough to know it was a pig on gas.

Cat twins have always gotten bad mpg, at least the carbed ones. None have ever gotten over 10 mpg, while the 600 twin venture we have had never felt gotten better than maybe 12 at its prime, which I hope it gets again after putting in new reds and correcting a few other things like with primary clutch bushings.
